Treasure (a poem)

If I could I would hoard your smiles

like a dragon collecting treasure.

If I could I would bottle up your laughter

to listen to on lonely, rainy days.

In my mind I replay the look on your face

when you turn the corner and see me.

And I feel warmth blossoming in my chest

when you choose to sit beside me

to eat your breakfast.

I never want to forget the sight of you

buried in rainbows,

playing in your ball pit.

I always want to remember the feel of you

hugging my knees.

If I could I would keep you forever.

I hope you know you’ll have my heart forever.

And I keep you tight inside my chest

because you’re my treasure.

Lovely. I have a guess on who this is about, too.
